Dr. Eduardo Tanur became a certified periodontist in 1992 after completing specialized training beyond his general dentistry degree at Texas A&M University College of Dentistry. Dr. Tanur is passionate about incorporating the latest technology and minimally invasive techniques into his practice. He’s always learning and integrating new advancements through extensive continuing education to ensure his patients receive the most current care.

In 2010, the practice grew as Dr. Tanur welcomed Dr. Ruben Ovadia, forming Dallas Periodontal Associates.

Recognized by his colleagues as a top periodontist, Dr. Tanur believes this honor comes from combining exceptional treatment with a genuine concern for his patients’ lives.

“Your overall well-being is incredibly important to me,” he shares. “I always take the time to explain everything we’ll be doing, so you feel comfortable and understand what to expect. We make sure you have the tools to care for your oral health at home, and we follow up after treatment to help you maintain your health long-term.”

Patients truly appreciate Dr. Tanur’s kind and patient approach, as well as his dedication to explaining every detail of their treatments. This helps them feel completely at ease, knowing he truly cares about them.

  • Why Dr. Tanur became a periodontist

Dr. Tanur has always had a desire to help people change their lives, and his first exposure to how this could be done was in his father's medical practice in Mexico City. He became very interested in the health sciences and looked for where he could create a meaningful change. He chose periodontics because he saw that he could do something significant for a patient's physical health and build their self-confidence at the same time by cosmetically enhancing their smile.

Advanced Education

Dr. Tanur did his undergraduate training at the Technological University of Mexico and graduated with a Doctor of Dental Science degree in 1989.

He then completed a postgraduate training at Texas A&M University College of Dentistry and earned his certification as a periodontist and a Masters Degree in oral biology in 1992. Dr. Tanur was A&M’s first ever international student to be accepted for training as a periodontist.
